Recent Buying

Hello from Reckless!

This Blog was written to the sounds of

Almost unbearably busy until recently, but now we are just about managing to catch up after the Christmas rush! Loads of great buying !

Lets check out some of it:

A selection of new and sealed titles including several high end Elvis Presley heavy vinyl titles, Sinead O'Conor, Grant Lee Buffalo, The Levellers etc.

A rough copy, but a proper cloth sleeve copy of Sonic Attack by Hawkwind. It doesn't look too pretty but the sleeve isn't bad and it actually plays really well.

A nice selection of CD box sets including big ones from Van Der Graaf Generator, Bob Marley, The Auteurs etc.

Several piles of great Hard Rock, Prog and Heavy Metal CDs, mostly Japanese pressings or by Japanese artists. All in amazing condition. Titles from Iron Maiden, Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Rollins Band, EZO, Rush. Van Halen, Deep Purple etc.

Another nice big CD collection which included the Nuggets boxes, Suede box sets, Judee Sill titles etc.

Lots of nice 90s vinyl from one seller including titles from The Verve, The Charlatans, Oasis etc. Also several Jimi Hendrix titles.

About 75 UK Garage and US House 12"s. Nice and clean!

Quite a varied selection from another seller including titles on Finders Keepers, Detroit Techno, Chicago House, DnB, Disco...

A decent selection of US Indie and Metal vinyl including titles from Ghost, Earth, Wilco, Godspeed You Black Emperor etc.

Some big vinyl box sets from Thin Lizzy and Wishbone Ash.

An interesting 80s selection which included titles from The Selector, Joe Jackson, Swans, Elvis Costello, Tubeway Army etc.

Another varied mix of CDs and Vinyl which included titles from Neil Young, Fantomas, Aphex Twin, Lagwagon, The Go-Betweens etc.

An interesting combination (Japanese CDs, 7" box sets, LPs etc) from artists like Sex Pistols, The Who, Lee Scratch Perry, Killing Joke, Blur, Sugarhill Gang etc.

More Indie/Rock/New Wave cassettes with titles from The Beatles, Neil Young, Talk Talk, Tears For Fears, Cocteau Twins, Sonic Youth, The Fall, The Rolling Stones etc.

Al bought a great Punk and Psychedelic collection from a respected music historian. This included some great Psychedelic/Freakbeat/Mod 45s and a great big batch of classic Punk 45s - Crass Records, Riot City etc. Some nice 45s from The Misunderstood, Ultra-Violent, Riot/Clone, Conflict, Acid Gallery, Crass, The Reaction etc.

Big batch of Strut titles.

Some decent Soul/Funk/Disco LPs and 12"s from a regular seller.

Several cool Rock LPs from The White Stripes, Acid Mothers Temple, Trail Of Dead etc.

A massive King Crimson vinyl box set.

More cool CDs from Cliff Martinez, Tyler The Creator, Nucleus, Kool Keith and various Spiritual Jazz titles.

I bought a pretty big (2-3000) Soul, Funk, Blues, Jazz and Rock collection from a really interesting bloke in Camden. He'd travelled all round the world playing music and had led a really interesting colourful life! Lots of US pressings, and a lot of ex Record and Tape LPs! Titles from Grant Green, Jimi Hendrix, Sly & The Family Stone, BB King, Lou Donaldson, James Brown, Howlin Wolf, Curtis Mayfield, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Horace Silver, Cream, Dr John, Frank Zappa, Miles Davis, Prince, Charles Mingus, The Undisputed Truth, Don Cherry,Keith Jarrett, Albert King, Funkadelic, John get the idea.

Another bigger collection (1500 titles) I bought down in Margate my hometown. From the daughter of a sadly departed regular customer. The collection was split between (interesting) Rock titles and loads of great Jazz. The Rock titles leaned on the Psychedelic, with some great titles from The Who, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, The Creation, The Rolling Stones, Small Faces, The Hollies, Captain Beefheart, Fleetwood Mac, Black Sabbath, Norma Tanega, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Groundhogs, David Bowie, Tom Waits, The Velvet Underground, Janis Joplin, Thin Lizzy, Pentangle, Fairport Convention, Hawkwind, well as other Rock stuff like Sex Pistols, David Sylvian, Talking Heads, Ramones, Public Image LTD, Soft Cell, Throbbing Gristle, Judas Priest, The Smiths etc. The Jazz is really brilliant, a decent amount has gone out already. Lots of Blue Note titles. LPs from Kenny Dorham, John Coltrane, Chet Baker, Miles Davis, Cecil Taylor, Alice Coltrane, Cecil Payne, Ornette Coleman, Joe Henderson, Don Cherry, Sonny Clark, Art Pepper, Sonny Rollins. There were also some great Blues LPs including original US pressings and a run of Blue Horizons.

2 huge Dance collections came in last Saturday. One was more NY/NJ House, about 1000 titles, loads of absolute classic House 12"s. The other had a lot of House, a lot of Detroit, Chicago, UKG, Hip Hop. Some really good Techno and Tech House, including some pretty expensive 12"s.

I bought possibly one of the best metal collections I've ever bought on the same day. A couple of hundred originals from artists like Morbid Angel, Pantera, Alice In Chains, Blasphemy, Darkthrone, Suffocation, Pearl Jam, Mr Big, Biohazard, Deicide, Sepultura, Therion, Acheron, Entombed, Exodus, Sadus, Skid Row, Demolition Hammer, Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Nuclear Assault, Dismember, Cannibal Corpse, Megadeth, Slayer, Emperor, Nirvana, Judas Priest, Death, Cro Mags, Jerrys Kids...there are a lot of really great Metal classics here. Mostly in great condition, and mostly all first press. Believe me I was not expecting someone to bring in a load of original Emperor, Blasphemy and Darkthrone LPs when I came into work last Saturday so this was a nice start to 2024.

A nice stack of Studio One 45s.

Some really great records from one of our favourite customers including a very expensive Bob Dylan set, High Tide's 'Sea Shanties' and more great rarities.

Plenty more collections on the horizon, just keep an eye on our social media. - and get in touch if you have a record, cd or tape collection for sale!
