We hope you are well. Crazy busy here at Reckless, with some amazing buying and a lot of selling!
Lets have a look at some of our buying:
1) I bought a fantastic case of 7" singles from a friend who decided to let go some of his rarer singles. An absolutely incredible stack of DIY 45s from all over the world. Heavy Punk, Post Punk (and a few oddities) rarities at that. Included were singles from The Middle Class, Television Personalities, Johnny Thunders, Urinals, Hornsey At War, Meat Puppets, The Cramps, O Level, The Pop Group, AMM, Lost Kids, Meatmen, Throbbing Gristle, The Stranglers, Tits, The Dregs, Monte Kazazza, Smegma, Negazione, The Bastards, The Boys, The Cravats, Crass....
Pretty amazing really, going out soon.
2) I bought another cracking Metal collection, all very of its time. The seller was very cool indeed. All originals - Cirith Ungol, Oz, Dio, Black Sabbath, Satan, Warlord, Entombed, Iron Maiden, Rush, Misfits, Blind Fury, Judas Priest, Sieges Even etc.

A lot of the heavy hitter Dego/4 Hero projects and a near complete Enforcers set. As well as the bulk of the Exit Records back catalogue - including 12"s from dBridge, ASC, Loxy & Resound. Absolutley killer stack of tough darkside Drum n Bass from someone who was going to all the early raves.
7) He also bought a great collection of Classic Hip Hop and RNB - mostly original US pressings in really nice condition.
8) Kenny and Scott also went to a decent Jazz collection in South London - featured was a realy mix of Trad, Ragtime, Bebop and some more modern post Coltrane LPs. There were a few decent Blue Notes in there.

Several piles of great Hard Rock, Prog and Heavy Metal CDs, mostly Japanese pressings or by Japanese artists. All in amazing condition. Titles from Iron Maiden, Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Rollins Band, EZO, Rush. Van Halen, Deep Purple etc.

A massive King Crimson vinyl box set.
More cool CDs from Cliff Martinez, Tyler The Creator, Nucleus, Kool Keith and various Spiritual Jazz titles.
I bought a pretty big (2-3000) Soul, Funk, Blues, Jazz and Rock collection from a really interesting bloke in Camden. He'd travelled all round the world playing music and had led a really interesting colourful life! Lots of US pressings, and a lot of ex Record and Tape LPs! Titles from Grant Green, Jimi Hendrix, Sly & The Family Stone, BB King, Lou Donaldson, James Brown, Howlin Wolf, Curtis Mayfield, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Horace Silver, Cream, Dr John, Frank Zappa, Miles Davis, Prince, Charles Mingus, The Undisputed Truth, Don Cherry,Keith Jarrett, Albert King, Funkadelic, John Coltrane...you get the idea.
Another bigger collection (1500 titles) I bought down in Margate my hometown. From the daughter of a sadly departed regular customer. The collection was split between (interesting) Rock titles and loads of great Jazz. The Rock titles leaned on the Psychedelic, with some great titles from The Who, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, The Creation, The Rolling Stones, Small Faces, The Hollies, Captain Beefheart, Fleetwood Mac, Black Sabbath, Norma Tanega, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Groundhogs, David Bowie, Tom Waits, The Velvet Underground, Janis Joplin, Thin Lizzy, Pentangle, Fairport Convention, Hawkwind, Genesis...as well as other Rock stuff like Sex Pistols, David Sylvian, Talking Heads, Ramones, Public Image LTD, Soft Cell, Throbbing Gristle, Judas Priest, The Smiths etc. The Jazz is really brilliant, a decent amount has gone out already. Mostly in great condition, and mostly all first press. Believe me I was not expecting someone to bring in a load of original Emperor, Blasphemy and Darkthrone LPs when I came into work last Saturday so this was a nice start to 2024.
A nice stack of Studio One 45s.
Some really great records from one of our favourite customers including a very expensive Bob Dylan set, High Tide's 'Sea Shanties' and more great rarities.
Phew!
Plenty more collections on the horizon, just keep an eye on our social media. - and get in touch if you have a record, cd or tape collection for sale!

Lots of buying and selling going on here, lets get started with the buying!
1) The biggest collection this month was a great Rock collection (consisting of around 3000 records). The collection spanned the 60's through to the early 90's - and was very 70's heavy. Lots of big artists such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Fairport Convention, Steely Dan, Yardbirds, Judee Sill, Nirvana (UK), David Bowie, The Velvet Underground, Townes Van Zandt, The Deviants, The Pretty Things, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Led Zeppelin, Nick Drake, Nico, Hawkwind, Incredible String Band, Mott The Hoople, Santana, Simon & Garfunkel, Trader Horne, Thin Lizzy, Miles Davis, Culture, Pentangle, Groundhogs, John Mayall, Supertramp, Beach Boys, The Pink Fairies, Grateful Dead, Jefferon Airplane, Soft Machine, Free, Jimi Hendrix, Tim Buckley, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Pink Floyd, Chicken Shack, The Byrds, Tom Petty, The United States Of America, Fleetwood Mac, Television, Roy Harper, Ten Years After, The Doors, Quintessence, Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Judee Sill, Brian Eno, Sex Pistols, Kate Bush, Devo, The Clash, The Damned, The Stranglers, Cream, Big Star, Queen, John Mayall, Bruce Springsteen, Kraftwerk, The Cure, Cat Stevens, The Zombies etc. It's probably one of the best Rock collections we have bought for years. Ultra busy at Reckless at the moment, we've been having to work overtime to make sure the racks are full! Lots of great new reissues in at the moment as well as all the usual second hand titles (for example we have brand new reissue LPs from artists like Lana Del Ray, Fleetwood Mac, Taylor Swift, Queen, Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamaar, Kraftwerk, The Who, The Beatles, Oasis, Mitski, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Aphex Twin, Daft Punk, Joni Mitchell, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Bill Evans, John Coltrane, Al Green, Sly & The Family Stone, Grateful Dead, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Howlin Wolf, Sonic Youth, Sonny Rollins etc!). LPs we bought were by Shirley Collins, Bridget St John, Duncan Browne, Paper Bubble, Joni Mitchell, Todd Rundgren, Fairport Convention, Trader Horne etc.
2) After a long walk from Streatham to Nunhead (and a stop off at the awesome Ivyhouse) I started going through the second collection. I'd bought a few records from the chap selling the records so I knew that they would be good and I wasnt dissapointed - Dub, Roots Reggae, Industrial, Punk, Improv, Hardcore, Indie Rock, Jazz. The collection largely consisted of classic Progressive Rock and Pop with artists such as Genesis, Yes, Traffic, Kate Bush, Led Zeppelin, Roxy Music, Talk Talk, Rush, Steely Dan, Miles Davis, Marillion, Wishbone Ash, Porcupine Tree, Big Big Train, Caravan, Camel, Soft Machine, Pink Floyd, IQ, David Bowie, Kevin Ayers, UFO, Deep Purple etc. The collection consisted of a lot of super rare 90s and 00's pressings as well as a lot of 70s originals (including some big titles from Comus, Spring etc).
2) Scott, Toru and I all bought a few really brilliant UK Garage collections. Some of the cleanest UKG we've had pass through the shop in the last ten years, and also some of the rarest. I think we bought just under 600 12"s in the space of a few months from one seller alone. Included were some really hard to find titles from Anthill Mob, Grant Nelson, RIP Productions, Michael King, Smokin' Beats etc. Quite a few more obscure titles too. A load of these have just gone out.
3) I bought a huge Library collection - roughly 1000 titles. Included were lots of classic KPM, Bruton, Music De Wolf, Conroy, Standard Music Library, Colour Sound, Chappell, Studio G, Themes International Music, Southern, Music Scene etc. In this collection there were also a few hundred classic Hip Hop and RNB 12"s.
4) On the same day I also bought some of the cleanest classic 60s and 70s LPs I have ever seen - day of release clean! I spent a crazy amount of money though! These will be going out soon but mostly first pressings from The Beatles, Mighty Baby, The Rolling Stones, Syd Barrett, King Crimson, The Pretty Things, Big Star, Blonde On Blonde etc.
5) I also recently bought a pretty amazing small selection of LPs from a nice guy from the other side of the world which included the hugely rare Locamotive LP, Junco Brothers, The Orange Bicycle, Beatles and some Damned titles.
6) Scott bought more really great Jungle/Hardcore and Dubstep from the same sellers a few months ago. Some big ones from DJ Easy, Jungle Bunnies, Orca, DJ Crystl etc. Plus more DMZ 12"s!
7) I bought even more records from my friend on the coast which included more Noise, Punk, Avant Garde, Post Punk, Industrial. Loads of Vinyl-On-Demand box sets, rare private press US Punk LPs, 80s US Hardcore classics etc. Lots of Rare Punk KBD style comps.
8) Another big batch of Hardcore and Noise tapes came in from a seller I hadnt seen in a while - some cool titles including the Warthog demo and more Posh Isolation cassettes.
9) One regular seller has been bringing in some amazing 60s, 70s, Psychedelic/Progressive CDs every week. Sometimes included are nice Ace Girl Group comps, or Cherry Red sets, or UK Jazz reissue CDs. Titles from artists such as Gentle Giant, Rodriguez, Talking Heads, Simon & Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra etc. The second was Jazz and Blues including titles from Freddie Hubbard, Muddy Waters, John Coltrane, Freddie Roach etc.
14) I bought a small collection in Folkestone which was mostly Jazz and Classical, with a bit of Rock (Elvis, Beatles, Bowie). Lots of Deutsche Grammophon!
15) We also bought another small Classical collection, again, very clean. Nothing too rare but there were a few collectable box sets including a Jacqueline Du Pre box (although a later issue).

Sorry for the lack of posting any Blog material for a little while, we have been extremely busy!
We've bought some mega collections since the last post; lets get started!
1) A friend of mine had been threatening to sell off a large part of his collection for years. About 4 months ago he finally drove up from the South Coast with a delivery van absolutely stuffed with vinyl. He's now been up three times so I can't even begin to fathom how many records we've bought but it's got to be over 10,000 titles. I knew my friend Steve from my time in Nottingham (when I was working at the incredible Selectadisc!) where he would drive a bus, and put on absolutely mad noise and experimental nights. We've both ended up on opposing sides of Romney Marsh. The collection is made up of Punk, Free Jazz, Post Punk, Hardcore, Noise, Drone, Experimental, Industrial, Goth, Improv, Minimal Synth, Musique Concrete and some 80s Indie Rock. The kind of artists included are Merzbow, Whitehouse, Coil, Derek Bailey, Black Flag, Current 93, SPK, Cocteau Twins, Germs, The Adverts, Throbbing Gristle, Sex Pistols, Public Image LTD, Hunting Lodge, The Pop Group, The Slits, Cockney Rejects, Mission Of Burma, Albert Ayler, Nick Cave, Magazine, Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Sisters Of Mercy, The Stooges, Wire, Ramleh, Alternative TV, The Raincoats, Lydia Lunch, Nurse With Wound, The Ruts, Suicidal Tendencies, Wolf Eyes, AMM, Ornette Coleman, Cabaret Voltaire, Psychic TV.. Lots of way more under the radar stuff in there too. Some really brilliant records here!
2) Scott bought a really classic Dance collection - around 1000 titles. Chicago House, Trance, Deep House, UK Garage, Rave, Happy Hardcore, French House...
3) Ben has bought thousands of Classic Rock and Prog records from one seller. Including all the big artists such as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Groundhogs, John Mayall, David Bowie, Fairport Convention, The Animals, Grateful Dead, The Velvet Underground, Love, Wishbone Ash etc.
4) Tom has been buying some great Rock collections on CD. One in particular is fantastic as they are original sealed items. Included are also lots of classic box sets. Artists like Neil Young, The Byrds, Joni Mitchell, Small Faces, Pink Floyd, Jefferson Airplane, Cream, Santana, Thin Lizzy etc. There must be several thousand of these titles and there are many more to come.
5) Both Ben and Toru have recently come back from Japan and have been selling in loads of brilliant Japanese pressings. From Japanese pressings of classic albums to Manga soundtracks to City Pop grails! Our Japanese section is positively bulging at the moment!
6) Scott bought an absolutely amazing Reggae collection. There are around 1000 fantastic Reggae and Rocksteady 45s (in variable condition). I have been pricing these (and play testing them as I go!) and there have been some really amazing rare titles in there from Burning Spear, Lee Scratch Perry, Prince Buster, Bob Marley, Gregory Isaacs, Max Romeo, Alton Ellis, Ken Boothe etc. Some pretty big money 45s in the rare box (Blue Cat, Blue Beat etc!).
7) I bought a pretty special Reggae LP and 12" collection. About 6 big boxes of some of the rarest Dub LPs we've ever had in (Dub Sensation, Mellow Dub, Ital Dub, Revival Dub Roots Now, Ja Man Dub, Musical Bones etc). There were also 2 boxes of really rough but rare 45s - including loads of Studio Ones. Sadly a lot of these were just a bit too rough and ended up in the £1 section, but some made it through!
8) Ben and Sean bought a brilliant wall of 90s Indie vinyl - including originals from Oasis, Slowdive, The Pixies, Nick Cave, The Lemonheads, Morrissey, Chapterhouse, Dinosaur JR, Husker Du, Butthole Surfers, Ween, Ride, Nirvana etc.

10) I bought a really brilliant Pop collection - quite a few rare pressings of titles from Taylor Swift, Lana Del Ray, Ariane Grande, Spice Girls, James Blake, Paramore, Harry Styles, Britney Spears, Phoebe Bridgers, Doja Cat, Kylie Minogue etc. Some pretty rare titles here and there including theTaylor Swift heart shaped double album.

Tunes from Digital Mystikz, Skream, Cotti, Cluekid, Benga, Distance, D1, Coki, TRG, Quest, Kromestar, Loefah, Silkie, Pinch etc. I believe on the same day the friend of that seller bought in a huge pile of Metalheadz titles too. A good day.
15) One new seller turned up with a car load of absolutely amazing UK Garage, and in great condition too. Roughly 4-500. Lots of super rare bits and a lot of classics too. Some really hard to get titles from Anthill Mob, RIP Productions etc. Loads of titles that nobody has for sale on Discogs!

It's been pretty busy at casa Reckless this last week or so: both buying and selling. We've stopped selling online (apart from Reckless Records label releases and Merch) for the time being as we've just found we want to focus on the shop. There are still 250-500 new records and CDs going out everyday. Lets have a look at what we've been buying:
1) The most exciting collection recently has to be the Rap / Hip Hop / Electro collection Scott bought on the Greater London / Kent border. About 10 huge bags of stonking NM or EX LPs and 12"s - pretty much all in shrink with Hype Stickers where they had them. Most of the titles can't have been played more than once. Some of the cream titles were a basically perfect Ready To Die first press (again in shrink etc), Comptons Most Wanted, Showbiz and AG, Nas 'Illmatic' - all first pressings. There are some really hard to find Random Rap and Electro 12"s too. These have started absolutely flying out - it'll be hard to find copies as nice as these for some time.
2) We bought a nice collection of modern LPs and Reissues from someone, I think it was around 1000 titles. All in nice nick, artists like: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Air, PJ Harvey, Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, Husker Du, Foals, Sonic Youth, Hot Chip, Aphex Twin, Boards Of Canada, Coldplay, Nirvana, Mac Demarco, Beach Boys, Wu Tang Clan, Dizzee Rascal, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Lemon Jelly etc.
3) Ben bought a brilliant Classic Rock / Indie / Psych / Americana collection - a big people carrier full! Lots and lots of super good records - including some really hard to find titles by massive artists. Plenty of stuff from The Who, Beach Boys, Bruce Springsteen, Captain Beefheart, Fairport Convention, R.E.M., Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Pentangle, The Byrds, Steely Dan, The Blue Nile, Flaming Groovies, The Clash, Sandy Denny, Sonic Youth, Depeche Mode, Cream, Van Dyke Parks, David Bowie, Swervedriver, Yardbirds etc. Loads of this has gone out but its gonna keep going for ages.
4) One of our regular customers has been selling us loads of records. A mixture of Soul, Jazz, RnB, Hip Hop, Reggae and some Electronic stuff: lots of Jazzman, Warp, modern British Jazz, Lee Scratch Perry, On-U-Sound, Impulse! Records, Alice Coltrane, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Fela Kuti etc. There are loads of titles, and they are coming in a few times a week at least.
5) Tom bought in a pile of really rare CDs and DVDs - all from The Residents!
6) I bought in some more modern LPs from The 1975, Jamie T, Foals, Arctic Monkeys, Ben Howard, The Beatles, The Clash, Pink Floys, David Bowie - all modern reissues.
7) Kris bought in some nice 80s and 90s Alternative titles from Slowdive, Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, Om, Stereolab etc.
8) Plenty of Classic Rock and Pop from Eagles, Abba, Queen etc came in from one seller.
9) I've bought in several piles of great records from a friend of mine which included: Lyrichord, Ocora, Kate Buch, Patrick McMahon, Nic Jones, Vangelis, Fatu Gayflor, Ramon Pyrome, Jimmy Blanche etc.
10) An odd selection from another seller: Watersons, The Pharcyde, Heptones, The Doors, Dave Clarke etc.
11) A nice selection of good Rock / Punk / New Wave - including The Clash, The Damned, The Cult, The Cure, Queen, The Beatles, Joy Division etc.
12) A load of Studio One 45s
13) Another regular seller sold us a load of Jazz including titles from Wolfgang Dauner, St Germain, Al Foster etc.
14) The Police 45 Singles pack
15) More new titles from Muse, Nirvana, Radiohead, Guns N Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers etc.
16) A Big selection of House, Techno and Grime
17) Some nice titles on Warp, Bola, Skam, Echo & The Bunnyman, David Bowie, LFO etc.
18) More Hip Hop CDs
19) A load of Polish pressings of Classic Rock and Pop
20) New reissues from Oasis, Black Keys, Lumineers, Nirvana etc
21) Selection of titles from Aretha Franklin, Alan Hawkshaw, Carly Simon (the amazing Why 12"), Dale Hawkins etc.
22) A load of David Bowie Japanese pressing CDs
23) A small but nice Folk collection with LPs from Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, Fotheringay, Hedgehog Pie, Cast Stevens etc.

We hope this new Blog finds you well (despite the score last night).
Record Store Day was pretty busy, and we've got another one on Saturday. Again we've got a fair bit of stuff - keep checking our Social Media as we'll be posting the titles were getting on there soon.
The buying has been fantastic recently, here's some of the things we've been buying:
1) I bought a really big Reggae collection from East London - roughly 4000 LPs, 12"s and 45s. There were also around 400 Soul, Funk, House and Misc titles too including a few rare Boogie and Disco 45s. Just before I had 2 weeks off I priced up a few hundred of the Reggae LPs and 12"s. The main batch was all Lovers Rock, he had a very large amount of Lovers records - probably more than I've ever seen at a collection before. Lots of classic titles here but also a few rare and obscure titles (quite a few of them had huge wants figures on Discogs for example). I put a few pictures up on our Instagram which is worth checking. The Lovers section is seriously stacked now and will probably get a bit bigger this week as I'm back in tomorrow! There were also a few Dub, early Dancehall and Roots titles that went out from Barry Brown, Twinkle Brothers, Scientist, Barrington Levy, Augustus Pablo etc. There was also a copy of Midnight by Willie Lindo - a personal favourite. There were roughly a thousand 45s, including loads of original Studio One (plus some original colour vinyl Studio Ones which are pretty hard to come by!), some great Dancehall, Rocksteady etc.
2) Several hundred Death and Black Metal LPs - old and new. I'll probably try to get some of these done this week.
3) A good friend (and colleague) also decided he'd had enough and sold us his big collection a few weeks ago and it was absolutely stonking!!! The collection is roughly 3-4000 LPs, 12"s, 45s and CDs and consisted of loads of Reggae, Avant Garde, Punk, Jungle, UK Garage, Metal, Industrial, Jazz, Pop, House/Techno, Dubstep, Soul, Hip Hop, Ambient etc. The Reggae is killer, and especially the Dancehall stuff. Loads of great 45s all organised by rhythm. A few big titles from artists like Dadawah, Freddie McGregor, Lee Scratch Perry, Horace Andy, Gregory Isaacs etc. The Jazz is brilliant, loads of Blue Notes, Japanese pressings, UK Jazz, Free Jazz. Amazing Jungle/Hardcore/Drum & Bass including some big boys from Tango, Dillinja, Source Direct, Peshay, DJ Crystl, Top Buzz, Mad Dog, Remarc, Photek, DJ Red Alert & Mike Slammer, Tom & Jerry, Q Project, LTJ Bukem, DJ Trace, Ed Rush, Orca, Noise Factory etc. The House and Techno too is just killer loads of Detroit, Acid, German Dub Techno, Moodymann, Drexciya, Underground Resistance, Robert Hood etc. Some other random amazing stuff from Sadus (one of the best Metal LPs ever), Bjork, Gang Starr, The Beatles, Motown, Loefah, Wu Tang Clan, Hawkwind, Nas, Cocteau Twins, The Cure, The Smiths, Throbbing Gristle, New Order etc. The CDs were all good too lots of Japanese Ambient and Avant Garde. Since we've reopened we've noticed a huge boost in buying, and top quality records too. The buying certainly hasn't died down at all since we reopened. Lets have a look at the buying since the previous blog:
1) In all of the years I worked here we would always get most excited when one seller would bring in big batches of incredibly rare and sought after Soul, Rare Groove, Funk bits. He'd just turn up with original records from Alice Clark, Placebo (Belgium), Sylvia Striplin etc like there was no tomorrow. Seriously killer records. Well we bought in a massive stack (about 20 big boxes) of them a couple of weeks ago. There are rare 45s, 12"s and LPs with the bulk of the ones that have gone out so far being 12" singles. Some amazing buying this week! Lets get to it!
1) On Saturday I was at a huge collection in South London that was absolutely brilliant. The collection was all in one room floor to ceiling, and absolutely packed full. It took me near enough a whole day to go through it all. It was fairly evenly split between LPs and 45s. The singles seemed endless - and again a real mixture but the best of it are endless clean UK Reggae and Ska 45s, lots of UK and US Soul 45s (including loads of rare ones I haven't seen before) and some awesome 60's / Mod / Freakbeat originals (some nice ones from The In Crowd, Les Fleur De Lys, The Poets, Timebox The World Of Oz etc). Its not all amazing stuff - as with any collections theres quite a lot of stuff that will go out really cheap or even be given to charity - but the good stuff is really good! It was obviously a real labour of love, from someone with great taste!
