Greetings from Reckless!

 

This Blog was written to the sounds of 

Wow, what a month that was! One of the busiest months we've ever had! Both buying and selling were quite simply off the chain.

Here are some of the brilliant things we bought this month.

1) Loads more from a fantastic ongoing collection. This time it was around 1000 titles (as well as some 1210s). Lots of brilliant original and early pressings of some classic Jazz LPs from Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, Bill Evans, McCoy Tyner, Andrew Hill, Alice Coltrane, Jimmy Smith, Blue Mitchell, Tubby Hayes etc. All early Prestige, Blue Note, Atlantic, Impulse etc! More great Reggae (Burning Spear, Scientist, Creation Rebel, Augustus Pablo, Bob Marley etc), loads of Classic Psychedelic Rock (almost all US pressings this time) from The Beatles, The Kinks, Yardbirds, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, The Zombies, The Rolling Stones, Fairport Convention, Small Faces etc. More great US Indie / Hardcore (Meat Puppets, Sonic Youth, Eels, Pulp, Foetus, Husker Du, Nick Cave, Oasis etc). A Beatles in Mono box set, plus loads more box sets from Bob Dylan, Traffic etc. Plus loads of Classical and a smidgen of Gangster Rap. 

2) Some really knock out amazing records including a finished test press of Bowies 1st LP, more test presses from the Small Faces,  loads of Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kinks etc. Pretty astonishing!

3) One of the best CD collections we've ever bought. 2500 or so CDs - titles from Fela Kuti, Peter Brotzmann, Blood & Fire, Blue Note, AMM, Azymuth, 21 Savage, The Internet, Ethiopiques, Prince Buster, Rock A Shaka, Numero, Chain Reaction, Warp Records, Nuggets, Wu Tang Clan, Geto Boys, Sly & The Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix, Acid Mothers Temple, ECM, Derek Bailey, Rhythm & Sound, Chain Reaction, Metalheadz, UGK, Three Six Mafia, Angel Olson, Numero, Brian Eno, Captain Beefheart...

4) 2000 Drum n Bass / Jungle 12"s - from 94 onwards - killer titles from DJ Trace, Orca, Hospital Records, Ram Records, Andy C, DJ Hype, Harmony, Paradox, Krome & Time, Undercover Agent, 3rd Party, Hard Leaders, DJ Marky, Danny Breaks, LTJ Bukem, DJ Crystl, Renegade Hardware, Seba, Doc Scott, Goldie, Metalheadz, Moving Shadow, PFM, Suburban Base, Quarentine Records, Aphrodite, Klute, Technical Itch etc.

5) Ben bought a great Rock and Classical collection. Just over 1000 titles including loads of great classic LPs from David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Caravan, Sex Pistols, Television, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Black Sabbath, The Clash, Yes, Iron Maiden, Santana, Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Muddy Waters, Hatfield & The North, The Birthday Party, Blondie, Grateful Dead, Kaleidoscope, John Lee Hooker etc.

6) Great little Hard Rock / NWOBHM collection - mostly Japanese press 45s - amazing covers!

7) Toru sold in loads of great Jazz LPs!

8) Cool pile of LPs which included MF Doom, King Geedorah, Pete Rock, Eek-A-Mouse, Nirvana, John Frusciante, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Digital Mystikz, Burial, The Bug etc.

9) Loads of great Jazz from a friend of ours which included a stack of Blue Notes and some nice UK Jazz.

10) Hundreds of Classic Rock and West Coast Psychedelic CDs came in from a collection the other day. Lots of classic titles - including a load of Grateful Dead and the Dicks Picks series.

11) Two big stacks from a pal of ours included some gems from Motorhead, Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ride, The Cranberries, Cocteau Twins, Out Cold, The Who, Slade, The Rolling Stones, Thin Lizzy etc.

12) Nice pile of modern LPs from Wet Leg, Daughter, Caribou, The Pixies, Harry Styles, Warpaint, Janelle Monae, Portishead etc.

13) Several piles of Audiophile LPs from one seller including titles from Bob Seeger, Yoko Ono, George Harrison, Lou Reed, Serge Gainsbourg etc.

14) Lovely pile of titles from another seller including The Fireman, Factory Records, The Slits, Suede, Japan, Pink Floyd etc. All pretty pricey!

15) Some solid LPs from Everclear, The Kinks, MC5, Cockney Rejects etc.

16) Some really cool Exotica and Rap CDs.

17) More classic CDs from Johns Children, Pink Floyd, The Byrds, Grateful Dead, The Pretty Things, Melanie, Ramones, The Rolling Stones etc.

18) Some Classic Rock LPs from The Rolling Stones, Brian Eno, Jimi Hendrix etc.

19) Cool tapes from Laurie Anderson, Morphine, Richard Thompson, Butthole Surfers, Keith Jarrett, Spacemen 3 etc.

20) Some fairly pricey vinyl box sets from The Band, Radiohead, The Who, Elliott Smith, Bjork etc.

21) Metal CDs from Burning Witch, Sacred Reich, Dying Fetus, Dismember etc.

22) Modern Punk and Hardcore LPs from The Chisel, Rudimentary Peni, LOTION, The Flex, Insect Warfare, Diat etc.

23) More Classic CDs from Ozzy Osbourne, Kiss, Gang Of Four, Jeff Beck, ELP, Joni Mitchell etc.
