Lots of buying since the last post!

1) I went out to Hertfordshire on a freezing snowy day to buy a brilliant collection from a very nice chap who worked in the film industry. He had a super amazing collection (and what a DVD and Blu Ray collection too!). As to be expected there were a lot of soundtracks but also a massive amount of classic Indie, Rock, New Wave, Synth Pop, Punk, Jazz etc. Artists like Talk Talk, Goldfrapp, Radiohead, Peter Gabriel, Sparks, Japan, Talking Heads, Belle & Sebastian, Kraftwerk, Fiona Apple, Bjork, PJ Harvey, Eels, New Order, Depeche Mode, Killing Joke, The Who, Mogwai, Ramones, Massive Attack, Johnny Cash, The Cure, Sun Ra, The Blue Nile, Harry Nilsson, The The, Neko Case, Joe Jackson,  Fleetwood Mac, Frank Sinatra, Kate Bush, Beck, Tom Waits, David Bowie, Cocteau Twins, Lana Del Ray, The Human League, Daft Punk, My Bloody Valentine, Aimee Mann, XTC, Nick Drake, Aphex Twin, Nick Cave, Beastie Boys, REM, Bikini Kill, Sleater Kinney, OMD, The Jam, Bruce Springsteen, De La Soul, Echo & The Bunnymen, Stereolab, Elvis Costello, Godspeed You Black Emperor, The Flaming Lips, John Grant, Max Richter, The Specials, Neil Young, Nine Inch Nails, St Vincent, The Band, U2 etc.

Great stuff!

It was particulary interesting for me to see all of the soundtracks as we haven't bought such a comprehensive soundtrack collection for years. Its made up of a mixture of originals and modern Death Waltz/Mondo/Finders Keepers etc reissues. Composers/artists such as: Goblin, John Carpenter, Ennio Morricone, James Horner, Jerry Goldsmith, Howard Shore, Vangelis, Johan Johannsson, John Barry, Philip Glass, Thomas Newman etc. Great scores and soundtracks from films such as American Beauty, Bladerunner, Eyes Without a Face, Videodrome, Ghost World, Dracula, Candyman, The Fly, The Shawshank Redemption, Assault On Precinct 13, Call Me By Your Name etc. 

An absolutely brilliant collection!

2) We've been buying some amazing Rap records from several buyers. One of which I bought the best pile of 90s titles Ive seen come through for ages. All originals from Gang Starr, Wu Tang, Nas, Showbiz & AG, Redman, Ultra, AZ, Cypress Hill, Pete Rock, Big L etc. More to come!

3) Scott bought a serious Disco/Boogie/Jazz Funk/Rare Groove collection. Thousands of titles, loads of multiples, pretty much everything is EX if not still sealed!!! Its a mixture of super rare stuff, or just really classic titles in the best condition you can imagine. Loads of Street Soul and Modern Soul too, and all white labels have the original stamped sleeves and promo inserts. There are huge titles from artists like Donna Mcghee, Ripple, Pleasure, Cloud One, Harris & Orr, Roy Ayers, Johnny Hammond etc. Its probably the best Disco collection I've seen pass through the shop.

4) I bought another great stack of Reggae 45s from a nice chap in South London, including loads of Studio One and titles from The Congos, Junior Delgado, Burning Spear. Bob Marley, Derrick Morgan, Alton Ellis etc. 

5) I bought another stack of Reggae on the same day out West - also included were some really good Rapso titles and a load of great Hardcore and Jungle 12"s.

6) We've bought tonnes of classic DNB from a regular seller, big stacks every week!

7) I was back in Herne Bay buying some really brilliant titles. Another great mixture of Punk, Indie, Classic Rock, Techno, House, Jazz, RNR, Metal etc. Amazing titles from John Zorn, Sex Pistols, Melvins, Scientists, Blitz, The Damned, Generation X, The Boys, Baroness, Squad, Cabaret Voltaire, Scritti Politti, Kerri Chandler, Bunker Hill, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Radiators From Space, Chet Baker, Ramones, Neu, The Jam, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Residents, Virgin Prunes, Faith No More, The Comsat Angels, REM, The Flaming Lips, ZZ Topp, Basic Channel, One Last Wish, Butthole Surfers, Beck, Frank Sinatra, Devo, The Fall etc. 

8) Fantastic stack of classic 60s/70s LPs from The Beatles, Cream, Fairport Convention, Rod Stewart, Small Faces, The Zombies, The Rolling Stones, Free, Beach Boys, Grateful Dead, John Coltrane, Pink Floyd, Jeff Beck, Jerry Lee Lewis, Procol Harum, Led Zeppelin etc.

9) Classic Indie original LPs from Nirvana, Ride, Jesus & Mary Chain, Felt, Cocteau Twins etc.

10) Some more excellent Jazz, Jazz Vocal and Blues from a chap who worked in quite a few old Jazz shops including titles from Mose Allison, King Curtis, Frank Sinatra, Mark Murphy, Esther Phillips etc.

11) More classic Hip Hop and RNB from Boyz 2 Men, Jay Z, Xscape, Run DMC, Kendrick Lamaar etc.

12) Big bunch of sealed Oasis records.

13) Nice originals and a few box sets including titles from Joy Division, Kraftwerk, Faust, The Go-Betweens etc.

14) Classic Metal and Hard Rock with titles from Melvins, Yes, Nuclear Assault, Ministry, Flotsam & Jetsam etc.

15) More great DNB from Optical, Bad Company, Grooverider, Metalheadz, DJ Hype, Zinc, Dom & Roland, Renegade Hardware, Ed Rush, T Power, Roni Size, Tech Itch etc.

16) Nice records from Tracy Chapman, Sugarhill Gang, De La Soul, Guns N Roses, Public Enemy, The Ohsees, Overmono etc.

17) A strange mix including titles from NWA, The Kids, The Fall, Get Carter OST, Requiem For A Dream OST, Blow Up OST, Mystery Train OST, Jackie Leven etc.

18) Classic Roots from Alpha & Omega, Earl 16, Disciples, Jah Shaka etc.

19) Some original sealed titles from Norman Connors and the Undisputed Truth (as well as a Sisters Of Mercy title).

20) Modern titles from Matthew Sweet, Love, Paul Weller, Sault, Au Pairs etc.

21) A nice collection that included titles from Buckingham Nicks, Eagles, Miles Davis, Keith Hudson, John Coltrane, Steely Dan, Black Uhuru, Herbie Hancock, The Blue Nile etc.

22) 500 Classic LPs including titles from Tom Waits, Blondie, Roxy Music etc.

23) Several big stacks of Hard Rock LPs including titles from Dokken, Motley Crue, Ratt, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath etc.

24) Interesting bag including titles from Naffi Sandwich, Wailing Souls, Material, Alton Ellis etc.

25) More good Reggae including titles from Sammy Dread, Barrington Levy, Big Shot, Blue Beat, Duke, Island, Nu Beat, Bullet, Dr Bird, Treasure Isle, Gas, Studio One, Gay Feet etc. Loads of proper original Ska/Rocksteady 45s. Well enjoyed !

26) Standards from Nick Cave, The Jam, Faiport Convention, Sandy Denny, White Stripes, Chemical Brothers, Bob Dylan etc.

27) 100 classic Dance 12"s - UKG, Detroit, Chicago, Trax, NY House etc.

28) Nice collection of Folk LPs, including lots of originals. 

29) More classic Dance: Sonars Ghost, Reinforced, AKO Beats, Tek 9, Bizzy B etc.

30) Big CD sets from Underworld and some original My Bloody Valentine LPs. Plus a big stack of Third Man LPs.

31) More Modern Metal LPs including titles from Blood Incantation and Municipal Waste.

32) Lots of classic Hip Hop CDs.

33) I was out in Canterbury yesterday buying a superb large collection. It's always a pleasure to be there as I spent a large portion of my life there and bought a lot of records and went to a lot of gigs there! The collection was several thousand titles (at least). Very Rock focused including loads of multiples, loads of box sets, originals/reissues. It's all over the shop, but its really great. Titles from artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Muse, Sex Pistols, Ramones, Black Sabbath, Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, Small Faces, Pink Floyd, Caravan, Bob Dylan, Oasis, Yes, Elton John, Arctic Monkeys, Deep Purple, Mojave 3, Cream, Talking Heads, Joni Mitchell, Fairport Convention, Cat Stevens, Rod Stewart, Egg, Pete Brown & The Battered Ornaments, Metallica, Prince, REM, Genesis, Queen, Bob Marley, Soft Machine, Discharge, Beggars Opera, Joy Division, Happy Mondays, Slayer, Snow Patrol, Syd Barrett, The Kinks, Blur, Sisters Of Mercy, Cardiacs, Rush, David Bowie, Supertramp, The Specials, Devo, Motorhead, Wire, PIL, Stereolab, Cocteau Twins etc. 

34) Really great collection down in Dulwich from a really quintisensual English house (right off the front of Unhalfbricking). Really brilliant LPs from Trees, The Rolling Stones, Skin Alley, John Renbourn, Pentangle, Cat Stevens, Deep Purple, Fairport Convention, David Bowie, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Traffic, Cream, Miles Davis, Jacqueline Du Pre, Donovan, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Genesis, The Velvet Underground, Steeleye Span, Wishbone Ash, John Mayall, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Neil Young, Fotheringay, Brian Eno, Grateful Dead, Richard Thompson, Al Stewart. Some decent CDs too!

35) Great batch of Hard Rock cassettes - Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Queen, Def Leppard, Saxon, Girlschool, Judas Priest etc.

36) Amazing collection purchased from someone who worked for EMI in the 70s just in also - lots of interesting Promos and Demos!

I think I'll leave it at that for now. 

 

Racks are looking nice, with loats of great stuff out at the moment.
