Christmas approaches – Reckless Records London

Christmas approaches

Hello ! And welcome to the latest Reckless Blog post.

I trust you are all as well as can be in the current climate. Since we've reopened the shop we have been kept nice and busy purchasing lots of great vinyl and CD collections - as well as putting out hundreds of titles everyday! Lets have a look at what we bought this week:

1) Huge CD and Vinyl collection of Jazz and Classical. This was a collection of several thousand and included a lot of great Vinyl (all original issues!) from Cecil Taylor (several original Blue Note LPs), Archie Shepp, Sun Ra, Albert Ayler, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Pierre Schaeffer, loads of Folkways, The Beatles, Charles Tolliver, Max Roach, Ravi Shankar, Herbie Hancock, Sly & The Family Stone, Pierre Boulez, Miles Davis, Mongo Santamaria, Morton Feldman, Hank Mobley, Bob Dylan, Mose Allison, Keef Hartley, John Mayall, The Rolling Stones etc. There was lots of Modern/Avant Classical too, as well as a lot of Ethnographic LPs. The CDs were predominantly Avant Garde and Modern Composition (John Cage, Arvo Part, John Duncan, Terry Riley, Steve Reich, Dmitri Shostakovich, La Monte Young etc). A lot of the records have gone out but the CDs will take little while to go out I imagine as we have a lot to get through at the moment!

2) A Chap brought in 5 copies of one of The Clerks 45s! All unplayed!

3) A friend of mine brought in a big pile of UK Dub LPs, Roots and Dancehall 12"s and a couple of Jazz and Fusion LPs from Archie Shepp and Bob James. Lots of really obscure but killer Roots Reggae!
