Lucinda Chua Top Ten
This weeks Top Ten is from the almighty Lucinda Chua! Lucinda made music under the name Felix on Kranky Records as well as now playing under her own name. She has also played with FKA Twigs and Stars Of The Lid.
I think this the song of emoji heart eyes.
This is from Sergey Suokas’ album The New Cycle. The record feels like a collection of bizarro landscapes painted out of bits of techno and orchestra – I am really into it.
“Please Set Me At Ease” Madlib
Ugh, this is so good. When the tempo slows and the piano comes back in, I am turned into mush.
“Nowhere” Nosaj Thing
I love the wooziness Nosaj Thing conjures. It’s like a cross between falling in love and the feeling before you throw up… but it’s a good feeling hahaha.
“Fragments” Skuli Sverrisson & Oskar Guojonsson
The first time I heard this I felt paralysed because I didn’t know how to process it. Like the music felt so good it actually physically hurt a bit. I don’t know if anyone else ever feels this way with certain songs? or maybe I’m just a weirdo!
“What I can See feat. Micachu” Ben Vince
I love this song by Ben Vince, taken from his new Assimilation LP. He creates all these beautiful textures and overtones with his saxophone, it feels like someone is holding your heart in their hands.
“Zodiac Shit” Flying Lotus
Flylo’s music brings so much joy into my life! All that tremolando up in the strings, so dreamy.
“Machinery Responds” Ratkiller
My friend JBH got me into Ratkiller (Estonian musician Mihkel Kleis) a few years back. This track is from his 2016 record Odor Orienting. For me, this is the sound of euphoria mixed with adrenaline.
“My Queen Is Anna Julia Cooper” Sons of Kemet
I am so inspired by Shabaka Hutchings. His solo work, The Ancestors, Sons of Kemet… there is so much power and excellence in this music, it has taught me so much – about the past, about the future, about music, about myself.
“Sem Teto” Cinema
Someone posted this on youtube and the comments section reads:
