Chinese Daughter Top Ten – Reckless Records London

Chinese Daughter Top Ten

1.Martyn - Voids
This double LP has had me in a chokehold since 2018. Voids 2 is probably my fav on here; super warm, bassy and somewhat emotional! It's a lovely mix of all the good parts of bass, techno, dubstep etc. Fun fact, I went for a dig at Planet Wax and was sulking about how busy it was (ha) till I took my headphones out and looked up to see Martyn playing. Hadn't managed to catch a set from him till then!

2.DJ SS - The Rollers Convention Part 3
Never leaves my bag. Grooveriders mix is something you'll hear at almost every Jungle set I play and if not, Rollidge is getting played. Either or.

3.Junior Williams - Cash Maniac
Cash Maniac is one of the sexiest, funkiest, relatively new tracks that I've heard - I've not been to Miami but this is what I imagine it might be like. I wish the label (Cosmic Chronic) had put out more releases. Sounds like it could have been released in the mid 80's!

4.Neil Landstrumm - Yell Yell
I always say I'd love to do a Neil 2 Neil set because I used to find it hard to not play more than 2 of his tracks in a row. I love how his mind works, he seems to jump between techno, grime and dubstep in one track and I'm hooked. Top Track - Alt Rocker

5.Keysha - Stop it!
So well produced - this is one of those tracks which evokes a joyous feeling and takes you on a twinkly journey. Feels older and wiser than it actually is as it feels like a classic but it's actually from 2018. Stroom Records what a great release.

6.Mental Power - Red (side a)
MY FAVOURITE JUNGLE TRACK - do yourself a favour and pop it on if you're not in the know.

7.The Party Boy - The Twilight Zone
A really fun injection of acid and sleaze <3 If I'm on my Chicago tip, I'm basically waiting to play this banger.

8. J-Majik - Your Sound / Tranquil
Tranquil is so bloody underrated! Haunting, deep and beautiful. This is one of those tracks which I could listen to everyday at any time of the day and really embodies the feeling that Jungle music gives you. Your Sound is also a wonderful track, (I especially like the remix too.) Out to J Majik and the Metalheadz gang.

9. Frankie Knuckles - Tears
Right, the original is an absolute classic so this inclusion could tchnically end with that but I also love this because of the songs people sampled it for.,
4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse  - Drowning in Her, (both the original and the 4 Horsemen mix) are both stellar tracks and of course, White Lightning - So Many Tears is also a tune. Quick shout out to my boyfriend Benton who loves these as much as I do.

10. DJ Nut Nut - Forbidden Planet.
I was so happy to see this on the wall at Reckless, my word! I'd been after this for a long time so you made my dreams come true when I saw it at the shop. I recently played this on a Distant Planet set and I realised just how much other jungle and hardcore nerds love it too. This was made for big systems and I can confirm, it does indeed sound amazing when played on one.
