Proper Mix!!! Plus a top Nine from Overthrust!

Hello from Reckless!!

This Blog was written to the sounds of:

Heavy sales last week, it was hard to keep up at times! So much stuff selling as soon as it went out! We still managed to process a tonne of records however. Some of the top stuff that went out this week:

a) large amount of top tier Blues LPs from the amazing collection we bought a month or so ago. Several Blue Horizon and Python titles. Loads more really great records from John Lee Hooker, Howlin Wolf, Skip James, BB King, Lightnin Hopkins, Elmore James etc. Some really beautiful looking LPs.

b) Quite a few really high end Psychedelic and Progressive LPs from the same collection. Titles from the Groundhogs, Blossom Toes, The Battered Ornaments, Clark Hutchinson, The Rolling Stones, Tim Buckley (all of his albums) went out. Loads more, including lots of obscurities. Generally in very nice condition.

c) Several full runs of singles from artists like Belinda Carlisle, Cake, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Cardigans, The Charlatans, Veronica Falls, Oasis and many more. In fact loads of 45s have gone out this week!

d) More of the Apple collection – we now have an Apple Records 45 box behind the counter full to the brim of obscure foreign picture sleeves and rarities so please ask!

e) Loads of Classic Rock from all of the usuals: Blondie, Genesis, The Clash, Talking Heads, Cream, Eric Clapton, Camel, Led Zeppelin, Status Quo etc.

f) Loads of super cheap but brilliant CDs from people like Dinosaur Jr, Burial, Lord Finesse, Caravan, Talk Talk….as well as more rarities including more Black Metal and Anime Soundtrack CDs.

The buying was a bit quieter this weekend – which was ok as it was so busy! But it picked up this week with…

  1. Sean bought in a load of really great Indie – Slowdive, The Smiths, Sonic Youth, Codeine. All the classic titles.
  2. A friend of mine brought in some really nice Afro Disco, Italo Disco, Straight Edge Hardcore and Heavy Metal!!! Some very nice LPs here!
  3. Buckets of Tech House and Minimal came in yesterday: loads of cheapies – but several really sought after titles. Lots of full runs of certain labels.
  4. More Indie but from around the 2000s mark: Mum, Animal Collective, Bonnie Prince Billy, Godspeed You Black Emperor, The Polyphonic Spree…
  5. Bucket loads of Cheap Soul – but very clean!
  6. Sean bought in a huge pile of really decent records yesterday that someone brought in for trade: The Replacements, Loop, Gil Scott Heron, The Modern Lovers, Nucleus, The Go-Betweens, Wool, Gravediggaz, Roky Erickson, The Meters.
  7. Loads more Reggae: The Dynamites LP, Lovers Rock 12″s, a few Hit Run 12″s, 45s from Ken Boothe, Cool Sticky, The Upsetters, Prince Buster.
  8. More Classic Rock and Blues from one of our regular sellers: John Lee Hooker, Love, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones.
  9. More Jazz: loads of reissues of really rare European titles. High end reissues though.
  10. And it wouldn’t be a week at Reckless without more Hardcore Jungle: this week a major title from Tom & Jerry – “The One Reason”. Really brilliant 12″ this – with a gnarly breakdown. Also titles from Cool Hand Flex, Dr S Gachet, Foul Play, Ratty, DJ Business, Mystic & Fire etc.

Several collections coming up this week – plus Scott is back – so expect a major injection into the Dance processing because poor Toru has been doing it all by himself for the last month!

Before I forget – loads more new Reissues in the shop this week – The Libertines, Arctic Monkeys, Mayhem, Cream etc. Check it out!!!
