Music has been bought

Oi from Reckless Records. This week has had some serious, serious buying. Somedays have just been nearly nonstop – but we’ve been working overtime to ensure that we can get some of it out.

Firstly – so many cds have come in this week, certainly a few thousand. As you may know at Reckless we only buy cds if they are in Nr Mint or above (unless they are super rare and in which case they are priced accordingly and a Marked But Guaranteed sticker will be on the CD). We also only buy choice items; so this weeks cd purchasing consisted of: Loads of Rap, Sublime Frequencies, Black Metal, Experimental/Avant Garde, Jazz, Reggae, Psych, Afrobeat, Classic Rock and also plenty of Techno. There are some really nice rare cds in at the moment – so I highly recommend you pop in to check them out if CDs are your game.

Next up – we have had loads more decent Rap 12″s – with great titles from Gravediggaz, Wu Tang Clan, Nas, Raekwon etc. All originals, and some super nice ones.

We’ve had plenty of mid 90s to early 2000s indie in recently of a pal of ours. He’s been bringing in plenty of clean titles by artists like Beck, Morrissey, Dinosaur JR, The Beta Band, The Verve etc as well as some Rap 12″s and some dance and DNB such as Roni Size and Fat Boy Slim. All original titles, and plenty of LPs, 12″s and 45s.

Just yesterday we had a really nice collection (of about 200 titles); the condition was variable but included proper first press titles of artists like Pink Floyd, Lee Perry, Tim Buckley, David Ackles, Alexis Korner, Jah Woosh, Shirley Collins, T Rex, Velvet Underground, Charlies Mingus, Bert Jansch, Miles Davis, I Roy, John Renbourn etc. Its a really nice (and pretty cool) collection, all the right titles. You can tell the person that they belonged to knew what was going on.

On the dance side we had more Jungle and DNB come in from the same source (all nice condition – plenty of huge titles from Dillinja, DJ Trace, Photek, Ed Rush, Voyager etc) and a new seller bringing in some really nice Techno and Electro. This included nice titles from artists like Nu Era, Aux 88, The Black Dog, Red Planet etc. Its always a good sign when someone comes in and says they have all of the Drexciya titles without prompting.

OK this week we have a Top Twelve from the one and only Laetitia from Phonica! Sadly it looks like Laetitia is leaving London soon – everyone from Reckless all wishes you the best for the future!!
